Frequently Asked Questions

Buyers give an estimated buy time based on how many items you have and how busy the store is. Normally the buy time ranges from 20-30 minutes, but when we are busy or buyers are working on multiple purchases, the process can take 60+ minutes. For the most accurate estimation, we suggest you call ahead.

Our pricing software guides us as to what we should offer for specific items. It proposes an amount that will benefit the customer selling to us, by giving as much compensation for the items as possible, while maintaining a price point that allows other customers to get the financial break they need on the quality items we provide. There is never any obligation associated with our offers. We do what we can to keep our concept a win-win-win for all parties involved.

Even a high-quality item can be turned away when we are over-stocked in that specific category, or when the item is not in high demand within our customer base. If you have a question, be sure to ask the buyer.

Items you choose to donate go to Salvation Army of Tampa, which provides a variety of services to our community.  Please note that we are not a donation drop off site.  Please be courteous by only bringing items that you feel we would buy.  This reduces the wait time for you and others since we will not have to sort through extra items.

There are several ways to increase the amount you earn when you bring in your items. Read the ‘Selling to Uptown’ page on this site.

If you have a large number of items to be appraised, we suggest you plan for a longer buy time.

Most items may be sold back to Uptown Cheapskate if they are still in great condition and fit our store’s needs.

Store credit can be used for up to three years. After that point, your account is subject to a monthly maintenance fee, as allowed by law. If you are concerned about your store credit expiring, call us and ask any questions you may have. Store credit cannot be transferred between locations. Your credit is directly linked to the sales system in the store location where it was earned and is not transferrable.

We generally accept women’s size 0-18 or XS – 2XL, and men’s size XS-2XL

These are special sales that you should sign up on our VIP list for!
Here’s how it works:
– We provide the bag
– You fill it with product (all eligible product will be in bins!)
– You pay ONLY $25!

▪️ Start lining up between 9:30-10:00 AM for the best product selection!

A: Here’s how it works:

  1. Bring us your gently used items.
  2. Choose store credit for your pay out.
  3. Buy new clothes that same day without paying the 8.5% sales tax.  If your purchase price exceeds your store credit, only pay sales tax on the difference.

You may return your items within 30 days for store credit.  The tags must still be attached to the item and the purchase receipt must be presented.
